RAJA AMPAT:

Located in the northwestern corner of Indonesian West Papua, where the Indian and Pacific oceans meet, we find pristine coral reefs (home to 75% of all known corals) teeming with an array of marine life that scientists describe it as a "species factory".

This spectacular array of marine life (over 1,300 species of fish, 600 species of mollusks) combines with some of the most exotic birds in the natural world, including the distinct Birds of Paradise. This is Raja Ampat: the undisputed epicenter of marine biodiversity and one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world.

Raja Ampat's relative remoteness has been the region's most exceptional defense against overuse and exploitation, resulting in a pristine ecosystem, free from the vortices of industrialization, with an ecological richness unsurpassed anywhere else in the planet.

KOMODO:

Komodo National Park is the only place in the world where you can meet Komodo dragons living freely in the wild, as they are endemic species of the islands. The park has five main islands, including Komodo, Padar, Rinca, Gili Motang, Nusa Kode and other small islands. The area also offers beautiful tranquil white sand beaches, pink sand beaches, adventurous treks and a wild Jurassic landscape.

A protected areaKomodo National Park was established as a national park in 1980. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. Komodo National Park is part of the Lesser Sunda archipelago. The park includes 3 larger islands: Komodo Island, Rinca Island, Padar Island and 26 smaller islands.

BANDA SEA:

Undeveloped, far from populated areas and off the beaten path, Ambon and Banda islands have been largely isolated from the rest of Indonesia and the world. Calico Jack has a number of routes in the Banda Sea dive area and includes some of these islands, combined with Raja Ampat.

Due to the remoteness of the Banda Islands – and due to their exposure to waves – this area is only accessible to dive cruises during the calm periods between the monsoons, other divers are rare and many sites are still waiting to be discovered.

South Maluku offers some of the best diving in Indonesian waters and is perfect for adventurous divers and snorkelers looking for something unique and special. You can expect to find lots of rare and unusual creatures and beautiful coral, but also fantastic opportunities for pelagic sightings and schools of larger fish such as barracuda and mackerel, plus the chance of encountering an elusive whale shark and large numbers of hammerhead sharks.

The Banda Islands, the Moluccas and the Spice Islands: names with a romantic past, which evoke mystery, audacity and accumulated and lost fortunes. Here the world was formed and the great powers fought over the small islands, for the fortunes contained in the spices, once very precious, monopolized for centuries in this small archipelago. These days you can explore, discover and dive aboard the Calico Jack, safely in this pristine, beautiful and remote part of Indonesia.

CHENDERWASIH BAY:

Teluk Cenderawasih National Park is located in the large, secluded bay north of West Papua.

In 2022 the area was declared a 1.5 million hectare marine protected reserve, the largest natural park in Southeast Asia.

TRITON BAY:

Triton Bay is one of three regions that, along with Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay, make up the Bird's Head seascape of West Papua. The area has been protected since 2008, allowing fish stocks to recover from overfishing.

We can easily compare Triton Bay to Raja Ampat, Diversity and Biology interns. You'll find similar topography and many species in common with the Raja Ampat archipelago. However, being located much further south, Triton Bay enjoys different currents and, therefore, slightly different nutrient flow. This gives the area an exceptional level of soft coral cover. Triton Bay is famous for its black coral reefs and forests, which stretch as far as the eye can see. Some liveaboards only visit this remote region and you always feel this amazing spirit of privilege and pioneering when sailing in the area!

Free of humans, healthy, pristine coral reefs are free of waste and human impacts. Excellent macro diving can also be found. All five species of pygmy seahorse can be reliably found: not only Denise and Bargibanti but also the tiny Pontohi and Satomi species. The flashing wrasse Paracheilinus nursalim is found only in Triton Bay, Misool and South Raja Ampat.
